This week I'm dabbling in...You guessed it... DEODORANT! Stupid title gave it away lol
Now, I haven't made deodorant in a few years and I couldn't find my old recipe, so I had to start from scratch. It's always been hard for me to find a deodorant that worked. I remember back when I was little my grandmother would tell me I needed to go freshen up and would make me scrub my pits with baking soda. It's funny because I passed that delightful gene right on down to my son and I tell him the same thing. Over the years I did manage to find a deodorant that was worked for me and it lasted a good decade or so. But you know how your body chemistry changes over the years right? Well I think my body stopped liking that deodorant, so I decided now's the time to go back to making my own. The ingredients I used are pictured above...baking soda, tapioca starch, coconut oil, mango butter, and candlilla wax. Why did I choose these ingredients. Coconut oil has antibacterial properties. Mango butter makes your skin nice and soft. Tapioca starch helps cut the greasiness and gives it a silky feel. Baking soda helps fight odors and candelilla wax holds everything together and makes the deodorant nice and firm.
Here's how the deodorant came out. I'm testing it out today and so far the consistency as far as the glide goes is just right, but I added some bentonite clay to it and it made it a little gritty. My intent was to use Kaolin Clay , which is a little smoother, but I didn't feel like looking for it. I know.. that's lazy but whatever, it was late at night.. It's also a bit oily for my preference so I'm going to change up a few things and give it another go
